Developed as a critical design project, JODO (Hindi for “to connect”) is a handmade construction toy for children aged 4–6 that encourages slow, imaginative, open-ended play in response to the increasingly digitized childhoods of Gen Alpha. It takes an anti-capitalist stance by challenging the consumer-driven toy industry through an open-source model that invites local craftsmen and woodworkers to participate in toy-making, valuing community, craft, and longevity over mass production.
